Hand Care: Doing it the Right Way

Hand CareIt’s a common knowledge that clean hands are important in order to keep your body healthy at all times.

Clean hands save us from getting sick and they also save other people from getting germs.

It is important to keep your hands clean and healthy at all times by doing a hand care.

Hand care is a process of washing and cleaning your hands. This procedure is essential because you use your hands every day. You even use them when shaking hands with people.

So it is right to take good care of them every after activity. Below are tips on how to properly perform hand care:

1. Use a Moisturizing Hand Soap

A moisturizing soap is ideal when washing your hands. Some people use antibacterial hand soap and it’s good because it eliminates germs but it could dry out the skin on your hands.

If your skin is sensitive, then stay away from antibacterial soap and opt for a moisturizing soap instead.

A moisturizing soap has hydrating ingredients like olive oil, shea butter, and aloe vera that prevents your natural oils from stripping away.

2. Avoid Using a Hot Water

Water can also make your skin dry so if you don’t want to crack your skin, opt for a lukewarm water instead.

3. Use a Nail Brush

When cleaning your hands, make use of a nail brush. This is to completely get rid of the germs in your hands. You may be washing your hands every day but you can’t be assured that they are completely clean because of the dirt that is residing under your fingernails.

Make sure to use a nail brush and include your fingernails in your hand care routine by holding it in a downward direction, moving it along your entire nail, and scrubbing t back and forth to clear away the dirt. Once done, rinse it with water.

4. Maintain Your Nails’ Cleanliness

Regularly trim your nails and keep them well-shaped always. It’s good when your fingernails are all properly trimmed so as to keep the dirt from getting stuck inside them. To do this, make use of nail clippers.

Also use a nail file to make them look nicer and in good length the way you want them.

A cuticle remover and a cuticle pusher are also good tools for cleaning nails. A remover softens the skin while a cuticle pusher makes it easier for you to push it back. Take note to never cut your cuticles as this may lead to skin infection.

5. Wash Your Hands as Often as Possible

Do not get conscious if you wash your hands as many as you can in a day. It is the best thing to do because through washing your hands, you get to keep your hands free from germs and bacteria.

Wash your hands after using a bathroom, after holding your pets, after changing your baby’s diaper, or after any other contact with dirty items.

6. Exfoliate Your Hands as Often as Possible

Before exfoliating, wash your hands using a moisturizing soap. It’s important to exfoliate your hands often, at least once a week, in order to get rid of the dry, cracked, and rough skin. Make use of a hand scrub after washing your hands with a lukewarm water.

Massage it while you are using your hand scrub and do it in a circular motion. Once done, rinse it off with warm water and apply a hand cream on it for a soothing effect.

7. Regularly Apply a Hand Cream

Hand creams are one of the best skin products that exist. They are really good when it comes to hydrating the skin on your hands and making them feel soft and smooth. Make use of a hand cream a couple times a day so your skin feels good and stays healthy.

When choosing a hand cream, make sure that it has great contents where your skin can benefit from. A great hand cream idea is the one that consists ingredients such as shea butter, glycerin, and natural oils. You can apply it after you wash your hands and before you go to sleep.

You can reapply it when you feel like applying it, especially when your hands feel dry because of your activities.

There are hand creams that could make you feel uncomfortably greasy. Choose something that absorbs quickly so you’ll feel comfortable. Those hand creams that sink into the skin quickly without leaving residues are a good choice.

For me, choose a hand cream that is designed for men. Remember that men’s hands are different compared to women as they have thicker and hairier skin texture.

8. Moisturize Your Nails

Moisturizing the nails is also a must in a hand care. It’s also good to incorporate a Vitamin E oil when moisturizing your nails to make the cuticles healthier and glossier. Do this every night prior to sleep to prevent your skin from pain and cracks.

For an added gloss, you can also choose a cream that is specifically made for cuticles and nails.

9. Pay Attention to Your Nail Cracks

Nail cracks which result from extremely dry hands should not be neglected. If you have this nail condition, treat it by providing it more moisture. A hand cream will do but it won’t completely treat it, so use a rich ointment instead. A rich ointment has an ability to moisturize your skin, therefore, it can protect your nails and even help it to heal quickly.

10. Comfort Your Hands With a Weekly Mask

Hands are like humans, too. They need to be spoiled sometimes. That’s why it’s a good idea to treat them with a mask at least once a week. Moisturizing it daily is good but a weekly mask is even better because it provides extreme hydration which makes your hands healthier and it good condition.

Make your hands clean, healthy, and beautiful at all times by following these hand care tips. Remember that clean hands are a pathway to a healthier body!
